The connections we make in the course of a life -
maybe that's what heaven is.

Resources and Support During COVID-19

Living through the coronavirus pandemic can be destabilizing and triggering for you for many different reasons. You may be stuck at home feeling disoriented by the lack of routine and loneliness. You may be struggling to create structure and new norms as both a parent and teacher for your children. Conflicts in your romantic relationship may be surfacing now that you are spending more time together with your partner. You may be reeling from the loss of  your job or business and feeling uncertain about your career and financial future. You may be working on the front lines as a healthcare provider, first responder, grocery store employee, or other essential worker and feeling afraid for your own safety while serving the community. You may be worried about the health and well-being of your family and friends who live far away. You may be struggling with the grief and loss of loved ones to COVID-19. You may feel heartbroken and devastated by witnessing the pain and suffering of so many people around you and around the world.

This global crisis may exacerbate your existing mental health concerns and trigger the development of new symptoms. These symptoms may include: anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, panic attacks, grief, trauma, and relationship distress. You may be turning to negative coping strategies such as emotional eating to cope with the increased stress, helplessness, boredom, and burnout. Feeling constantly uncertain and afraid is a form of chronic toxic stress. Left unaddressed, this chronic toxic stress can become frozen and locked in your body, and show up as mental health and physical health concerns in the future. These mental health concerns may have lasting impact on your ability to function and the quality of your relationships after the pandemic is over.

If you are in need of support related to the coronavirus pandemic, I help individuals and couples in Washington State with a wide range of mental health concerns through online therapy. I provide evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, panic attacks, grief, trauma, eating disorders, and relationship distress. I am offering the following special services during this time to address the needs in our community:

  • Online individual and couples therapy
  • Sliding scale fees for clients who are struggling with financial concerns
  • Low cost counseling ($50 per session for 4 sessions) for those working on the front lines during the pandemic
  • Free counseling for African Americans through The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation COVID-19 Free Virtual Therapy Support Campaign
  • Free weekly facilitated peer support group on Mondays at 4:30 pm PST
  • Instagram live eating support for those struggling with disordered eating and body image concerns

Online Therapy

I offer online individual and couples therapy. I believe that during this international crisis, we need to continue to care for our mental health as well as our physical well-being by decreasing stress, processing our emotions, creating connections, and planning for safety. Please see the online counseling page for more information regarding the benefits, efficacy, and accessibility of online counseling. If you have additional questions or concerns about how the coronavirus pandemic may impact online therapy with me, please contact me.

As a Licensed Psychologist, I am insurance eligible for all insurance carriers in Washington State. I am not paneled with any insurance company. My clients see me on an out-of-network basis or pay for sessions out of pocket. During the pandemic, many insurance companies are offering coverage for online therapy. If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits, please contact your insurance company prior to our first meeting and ask what the out-of-network reimbursement would be for outpatient online psychotherapy.

Sliding Scale Fees

I am offering sliding scale fees for clients who are struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic. The fees will be set according to your unique fiancial circumstances so that you can attend therapy as frequently as you need at this time. We will renegotiate fees in the future when the pandemic is over and your financial situation changes. Please contact me to discuss a sliding scale fee that will meet your needs.

Low Cost Counseling for Those Serving on the Front Lines

I am offering short term and low cost online therapy sessions for healthcare professionals, first responders, grocery store employees, or another professional on the front lines of  this pandemic as a way to serve my community. I am committed to offering 4 sessions for $50 per session for those who are essential workers during this pandemic. You may be experiencing increased stress, burnout, vicarious trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression as a result of your work. You don't have to shoulder this alone. Schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation with me to see how I can be of support to you at this time.

Free Counseling for African Americans

The African American community has been impacted disproportionately by the coronavirus pandemic. In order to address the barriers to mental health for the African American community, I am a provider through The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation COVID-19 Free Virtual Therapy Support Campaign. The Campaign will offer to defray the cost of 5 individual sessions on a first come, first serve basis until all funds are committed or exhausted. Please see The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation website for more information about how to begin therapy with me through this Campaign.

Weekly Free Facilitated Support Group

As a service to my community, I am offering a free facilitated peer support group during the coronavirus pandemic. The group will be held online on Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, PST. The group will run for 10 weeks starting April 6, 2020. This group is appropriate for adults who may benefit from additional emotional support, especially those who are struggling financially. As this is not a healthcare service (I am not entering into a therapist/client relationship with the group members), individuals from outside of Washington State can also participate. Please schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation with me to see if this group is a good fit for you.

Instagram Live Eating Support

You may find that during the COVID-19 crisis, you are turning to food more often as a coping strategy. For those who are struggling with emotional eating, eating disorders, and body image concerns, I am offering an Instagram live meal support program. The Instagram handle is @covid19eatingsupport. Therapists and nutritionists from around the country are providing emotional support on this account. We are all using the Health at Every Size model to promote self-acceptance, body diversity, mindful and intuitive eating, healthy lifestyle habits, and joyful movement that is representative and inclusive of all identities. We aim to go live every hour around the clock so you can eat your meals and snacks in the company of others. I will be going live on Mondays at 6:00 pm PST.
