Associate Mental Health Therapist

Job Description

We believe exceptional therapists are developed through mentorship, consultation, self-reflection, and community. As an Associate Therapist at Thrive for the People, you will receive high-quality supervision, ongoing training, and the support of a collaborative team committed to clinical excellence.

We are looking for a masters-level associate therapist (LMFTA, LMHCA, LSWAIC) who is passionate about working with trauma and couples. This role is ideal for a clinician who wants to become highly skilled in depth-oriented individual therapy and emotionally focused couples therapy while building a sustainable and rewarding career within a group practice setting.

This is an hourly W-2 position, requiring 28 hours of availability for client sessions per week, aiming for a minimum average of 20 completed sessions per week. Some of the marketing and networking events will require occasional work in the evenings and on weekends (e.g., tabling at community events, hosting live workshops, etc.).

This is a partially remote and partially in-office position. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide services in their home office and at our Ballard office.

We May Be a Great Fit If:

  • You are passionate about becoming an exceptional therapist.
  • You are drawn to depth-oriented, emotionally focused work.
  • You consistently follow through on commitments.

  • You complete documentation on time without reminders.

  • You welcome feedback and consultation. Rather than striving to have all the answers, you approach supervision with humility, curiosity, and a desire to continue growing.
  • You are comfortable having difficult conversations with clients.

  • You view therapy as both an art and a discipline.

  • You are trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Counseling or willing to self-enroll and complete level 1 training within 3 months of hire.

  • You communicate directly, take ownership of your work, and value integrity over ego. You are accountable, dependable, and committed to repairing misunderstandings when they arise.
  • You are excited to contribute to something larger than yourself. You enjoy being part of a collaborative team, supporting your colleagues, and representing the practice in the community through networking, marketing, and relationship-building.

"I enjoy working with a small, supportive team of colleagues and clients who are motivated to invest their time and energy in their therapy experience."

- Caitlin Laun

"What stands out to me about this practice in comparison to previous organizations of which I've been a part is the attunement we have with one another.  We are a small practice that genuinely cares about each other and one wherein none of us gets lost in the mix.  I especially like the fact that we have all completed Emotionally Focused Therapy training so that we conceptualize and treat clients from a similar perspective in addition to our varying strengths and skills as individual practitioners."

- Jennifer Skorch

"I have felt supported and encouraged to be my best since day 1 at TFTP. I appreciate being able to work at a practice that understands and takes seriously that the work we do is hard but valuable, and that in order to do it long-term we need to take care of ourselves and each other. "

- Geoffrey Thomas
